Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of Essential Comps, including competition entries, prizes, Essential Points and related services.
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Introduction
These Terms & Conditions apply whenever you create an Essential Comps account, purchase competition entries, submit a free postal entry, claim a prize or use any feature available on our website. Eligibility
To enter competitions on Essential Comps, you must meet the eligibility requirements below. We may refuse entries or withhold prizes where these requirements are not met.
- You must be 18 years of age or over.
- You must be a resident of the United Kingdom.
- You must create an Essential Comps account using accurate and up-to-date information.
- You must complete our identity verification process before any cash or physical prize is released. Where we already hold a valid verification from a previous win, or where the prize does not require verification (such as Essential Points), we may not ask you to complete the process again.
- Employees, directors, contractors and anyone directly involved in the operation or administration of Essential Comps, together with members of their immediate household, may not enter competitions.
- We reserve the right to refuse, suspend or cancel entries that breach these Terms & Conditions or where we reasonably believe an entry is fraudulent, misleading or intended to gain an unfair advantage.
- If you no longer meet these eligibility requirements before a prize is awarded, we may cancel your entry and select another winner where appropriate.
Accounts
- To enter competitions, purchase tickets, claim prizes and use certain features of our website, you must create an Essential Comps account.
- You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided on your account is accurate, complete and kept up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity carried out using your account.
- Only one account is permitted per person. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently close duplicate accounts.
- You must not create an account using false, misleading or another person’s details.
- If you provide your date of birth, you confirm it once and it is then locked. If it has been entered incorrectly, please contact us; we may ask for evidence before correcting it.
- The information held on your Essential Comps account will be used to verify your identity and process prize claims. If your account details do not match the identification or information you provide during verification, we may delay or refuse to award any prize until we are satisfied that you are the legitimate account holder.
- We reserve the right to suspend, restrict or permanently close any account where we reasonably believe these Terms & Conditions have been breached, fraudulent activity has occurred, payment has been disputed, or the security or integrity of our competitions may otherwise be affected.
- You may request to close your account at any time from the Responsible Play section of your account or by contacting us. Requesting closure stops new entries and marketing straight away, and we complete the closure within 3 Working Days. A closed account cannot normally be reopened.
- Entries you already hold stay valid when you close your account. Valid entries in competitions that have not yet been drawn remain in those competitions and can still win. If one of them wins, we will contact you using the details held on your account, and the normal prize rules apply.
- Any unused Essential Points, referral rewards, promotional credits or other non-cash account benefits remaining on your account when it is closed will be permanently forfeited and cannot be transferred, reinstated or exchanged for cash.
- We may retain certain account, transaction, competition and verification records after an account has been closed in order to comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution and audit obligations.
Types of competition
- Main Draw competitions have one or more main prizes drawn after the competition closes, by Live Draw or Auto Draw.
- Hybrid competitions have a Main Draw and also Instant Wins.
- Instant Win competitions have Instant Wins only, and no Main Draw.
- The competition page shows which type a competition is, its prizes (including any cash or Essential Points prizes), its closing date and time, its draw arrangements, its ticket price and its maximum entries per person. Competitions with Instant Wins are only offered where the competition page shows them.
Times
- All closing times, draw times and deadlines are stated and applied in UK time, and are correct across the changes between GMT and BST.
- Whether something happened before or after a competition’s close is decided by our systems recording each moment exactly, so a clock change can never move an entry to the other side of a close.
Competition Entries
- Competition entries can be purchased through the Essential Comps website or submitted using the free postal entry route in accordance with these Terms & Conditions and our Free Postal Entry rules.
- Adding entries to your basket does not reserve them or allocate ticket numbers.
- Each valid competition entry is allocated one unique ticket number, chosen at random from the competition’s ticket numbers that have not yet been issued. If you have multiple entries, you receive one unique ticket number for each. Every entry route — paid, postal and promotional — uses exactly the same numbers and the same random allocation.
- Your ticket numbers are shown in My Competitions within your Essential Comps account.
- Each competition has a maximum number of entries per person, shown on the competition page. All of your entries count towards it, whether purchased, submitted by post or awarded under a promotion — including entries that have later been refunded or cancelled, which continue to count towards that competition’s maximum.
- Essential Comps reserves the right to refuse or cancel any transaction where we reasonably believe payment has been made fraudulently or in breach of these Terms & Conditions.
- Once a competition entry has been successfully purchased or accepted, it cannot be cancelled, transferred to another person, exchanged for another competition or amended.
- All valid entries, including those purchased using Essential Points, free postal entries and promotional entries, are treated equally and have the same chance of winning.
- Every competition operated by Essential Comps is guaranteed to be drawn, regardless of the number of entries sold, unless circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent the draw from taking place.
- Once a competition has closed, no further entries will be accepted.
Payments
- Card payments are processed by our payment provider, DNA Payments, in its secure payment window. Essential Comps never sees or stores your full card details.
- Debit and credit cards: credit cards can’t be used for any competition with Instant Wins (Instant Win and Hybrid competitions) — please use a debit card. For other competitions, credit card payments are limited to £250 per player per calendar month (UK time) across all our competitions. A card whose type can’t be confirmed is treated as a credit card. If a payment is made with a card that can’t be used for that order, it is not taken: the authorisation is cancelled and no entries are created.
- When you place an order, the tickets in it are held for you for a few minutes (at most five, and never beyond the competition’s close) while you pay. If payment is not completed in that time, the tickets are released.
- Entries and ticket numbers are only created for a paid order once its payment has been successfully authorised. If payment is unsuccessful or declined, no entry is created and no ticket numbers are allocated.
- Your entry counts if your payment was authorised by our payment provider at or before the competition’s close, even if our confirmation of it arrives a little later. You can start paying at any time before the close, but starting to pay does not extend the deadline.
- Your card is first authorised; the payment is then taken once we have confirmed that it was authorised in time and your entries can be issued. A payment authorised after the close does not create an entry and is not taken: the authorisation is cancelled. Your bank may briefly show a pending amount, which is released, not charged. We will tell you on screen and by email.
- In the rare case that a payment is taken but the entries cannot then be issued for another reason (for example the competition has no tickets left), the payment is refunded in full.
- If the outcome of a payment made before the close cannot yet be confirmed when a draw is due, the draw waits for it (see Draws) rather than leave out an entry that was paid in time.
Free Postal Entry
- Essential Comps offers a free postal entry route for every competition. It is a genuine alternative to paying: a postal entry has exactly the same chance of winning as a paid entry.
- Full instructions and the postal address are published on our Free Postal Entry page and on each competition page beneath the entry options.
- You must have an active Essential Comps account before submitting a free postal entry, be 18 or over and a UK resident, and the details on your entry must match your account.
- Each postal entry must be sent separately in its own correctly stamped postcard or envelope (or its own paid delivery). Only one competition entry is permitted per postcard, envelope or delivery. Multiple entries submitted within the same envelope or package, bulk entries and hand-delivered entries will not be accepted.
- Free postal entries count towards the same maximum number of entries per person as paid entries, as stated on the relevant competition page.
- Postal entries may be handwritten or typed, provided all required information is clear and legible. Each postal entry must include all of the information requested on our Free Postal Entry page. Entries that are incomplete, incorrect, illegible or submitted without an active Essential Comps account will be rejected.
- Free postal entries must arrive by 12:00 midday (UK time) on the day before the competition closes. Entries arriving after this deadline will not be entered into the competition.
- Valid postal entries are processed by hand, before the competition closes — the deadline is the day before the close so that there is time to do this. A postal entry is only ever allocated a ticket while the competition is still open: one that has not been processed by the close receives no ticket, and no postal entry is added after the close. Once processed, your entry is allocated a ticket number by exactly the same random allocation as a paid entry, and it is shown in My Competitions within your account.
- Tickets are not held for postal entries waiting to be processed. A postal entry only receives a ticket if one is still available when it is processed: if the competition has sold out by then, or you have already reached the competition’s maximum entries per person, the entry cannot be added.
- We do not send notifications for late, incomplete or rejected postal entries.
- Free postal entries receive exactly the same chance of winning as paid entries, including eligibility for any Instant Win prizes associated with the competition where applicable.
- The cost of preparing and posting a free postal entry is your responsibility. Essential Comps does not reimburse postage or delivery costs.
- Essential Comps accepts no responsibility for postal entries that are lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected or otherwise fail to arrive before the published deadline.
- Postal entries received for competitions that have already closed, or after the published postal entry deadline, will not be transferred to another competition and will be rejected.
Draws
This section applies to every Main Draw. The sections that follow add the rules specific to Live Draws, Auto Draws and Instant Wins.
- Competitions close at the advertised closing date and time shown on the competition page, or earlier if they sell out. Once a competition has closed, no further entries will be accepted.
- The entries in a draw are the valid entries made by the competition’s close. A purchase whose payment is authorised after the close does not enter. These entries are fixed at the close and are never added to afterwards, including if a draw is delayed.
- An entry that becomes invalid after the close — because it is refunded, its payment is disputed or invalid, or we void it under these Terms & Conditions — stays recorded in the draw but cannot win. Such changes can only be made up to a fixed eligibility cut-off shortly after the close, which is shown with the draw. From then until the draw is completed, refunds and other changes affecting its entries are held and then processed normally afterwards.
- How winners are chosen. When a competition’s entries are fixed, our draw system records a sealed commitment to them and to the draw, linked to public randomness (from the drand public randomness network) that does not yet exist. When that randomness is published, the winning ticket numbers are worked out from it and from the committed entries by a fixed published method. Neither Essential Comps nor anyone else can choose or influence the result. Every valid entry has an equal chance of winning. Holding more entries increases the number of ticket numbers you hold but does not guarantee a prize.
- A draw may be scheduled for the same time as the competition’s close. The draw is always made after the entries have been fixed and the public randomness has been published, normally within a few minutes of the close.
- Verify this draw. For every draw we publish a record that lets anyone check the result: a fingerprint of the committed entry list, the sealed secret and the public randomness used, the resulting seed and the winning ticket number, and which ticket numbers were made ineligible before the cut-off with a short reason (for example “Entry refunded before the draw”). The record never shows customers’ names, contact or payment details.
- If an ineligible entry’s ticket number is selected, the winner is found from the same committed entries and the same randomness by a fixed published rule, without any choice by Essential Comps. No claim can be made that an ineligible entry should have won.
- Where a competition has more than one main prize, each prize is drawn separately from all eligible entries, so one entry can win more than one prize. The odds shown on the competition page are the chance per prize.
- If no eligible winning entry can be determined, no winner is invented: the draw is held for review and we will keep customers updated.
- Technical delays. If a technical or infrastructure failure prevents a draw from being sealed in time, the draw is committed to new public randomness that does not yet exist when the new seal is recorded. Randomness that was already known is never used, and Essential Comps cannot choose which randomness is used. The entries stay exactly as they were at the close. The draw then takes place later than advertised; this can happen more than once if the failure repeats. The draw is never cancelled because of this and the prize is still drawn and awarded. The competition page and Draw Results show “Draw timing updated”, and Verify this draw publishes the full record. If the delay goes materially beyond the timeframe customers were told, we will let entrants know.
- The result of a draw is final, subject only to correction of any technical or administrative error.
- Results are published in Draw Results on our website.
- After a draw, later events do not change the recorded result; the forfeit and redraw rules below apply instead.
Live Draw Competitions
- Every Live Draw competition is guaranteed to be drawn, regardless of the number of entries sold.
- Live Draws take place at the advertised draw time and are broadcast live on our YouTube channel, and may also be shown on our other official social media channels. Where available, the broadcast can also be watched in the Draw Centre on our website.
- The winning ticket is determined by the draw system described in Draws above and revealed during the broadcast. Only the final eligible winner is shown, and the result is then published in Draw Results.
- Watching a Live Draw is optional and does not affect your chance of winning.
- All valid paid and free postal entries made by the competition’s close are included in the Live Draw.
- If a technical issue beyond our reasonable control prevents a Live Draw from taking place as scheduled, including issues affecting our internet connection or broadcasting platform, all valid entries will remain locked into the competition. The draw will be postponed and conducted as soon as reasonably possible once the issue has been resolved. Where possible, we will keep customers updated through our website and official social media channels.
- Live Draw recordings are normally available to watch afterwards on our official channels and, where available, in the Draw Centre, for as long as they remain available on the platform. Essential Comps also retains a copy of each Live Draw recording for our records.
Auto Draw Competitions
- Auto Draw competitions are drawn automatically by the Essential Comps draw system and do not require a live broadcast.
- Every Auto Draw competition is guaranteed to be drawn, regardless of the number of entries sold.
- After the close, a short delay is applied before the draw takes place so that the entries can be fixed and the public randomness published.
- The result is revealed in a short presentation in the Draw Centre and published in Draw Results.
- All valid paid and free postal entries made by the competition’s close are included in the Auto Draw.
- If a technical issue beyond our reasonable control prevents an Auto Draw from being completed, all valid entries will remain locked into the competition. We will resolve the issue and complete the draw as soon as reasonably practicable. Every Auto Draw competition remains guaranteed to be drawn.
Instant Wins
This section applies to Hybrid and Instant Win competitions.
- The Instant Win prizes, and how many of each remain, are shown on the competition page.
- How Instant Wins are allocated. Before any ticket in the competition is issued, a fixed set of winning ticket numbers is chosen at random across the competition’s whole ticket range and locked with a cryptographic commitment. Winning ticket numbers are never disclosed in advance and cannot be changed. Every ticket, however it is entered, is then given a number at random from those not yet issued. A ticket whose number is a winning number wins that Instant Win immediately, and we will let you know.
- Free postal entries, promotional entries and entries purchased using Essential Points are issued numbers in exactly the same way and win Instant Wins on exactly the same terms as paid entries.
- Instant Wins and the Main Draw are separate. In a Hybrid competition, a ticket that wins an Instant Win remains entered in the Main Draw and can also win a main prize. A ticket can win only the Instant Win its number matches.
- Two different figures are shown: the Main Draw odds (one ticket against the current eligible entries, which changes as entries are added) and the Instant Win chance (the chance that a newly issued ticket wins one of the Instant Wins still available; for several tickets, the chance of at least one win). Neither is the chance of winning anything.
- Instant Win prizes are not guaranteed to be won. If a winning ticket number has not been issued when the competition closes, that Instant Win is not won and is not redrawn, reallocated or carried forward to another competition.
- An Instant Win belongs to the ticket that won it. If that ticket is refunded at your request, or its payment is fraudulent, charged back or otherwise invalid, the Instant Win is void: the prize cannot be kept while the money is returned. A customer-requested refund is not available once an Instant Win prize has been delivered.
- A void Instant Win is never re-awarded. Its winning number stays used: the prize is not offered again and is not redrawn, and reversing or withdrawing the refund later does not restore the win. The competition page shows Instant Wins as won, void (where applicable) and still available, so a void prize is never shown as available.
- If we cancel or refund entries through no fault of yours (for example because of an error on our part), an Instant Win prize you have already legitimately won is not taken away.
- Cash and physical Instant Win prizes are subject to the same identity verification and prize fulfilment process as all other prizes awarded by Essential Comps.
Winners, Prizes & Verification
Winning a competition does not automatically entitle you to receive a prize until all verification requirements have been successfully completed.
- When you win, we send you an automatic email telling you what you have won. Our team then contacts you personally to arrange your prize. Winners of Live Draw competitions will normally be contacted by telephone using the contact details held on their Essential Comps account. If we are unable to make contact by telephone, or where the competition is an Auto Draw or an Instant Win, we will contact the winner by email.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that the contact details held on your Essential Comps account remain accurate and up to date. Essential Comps cannot be held responsible where we are unable to contact a winner because incorrect, incomplete or outdated account information has been provided.
- Where a cash or physical prize has been won, Essential Comps will contact the winner to arrange identity verification, confirm prize preferences (where applicable) and organise prize fulfilment.
- Winners must respond to our initial contact within 7 days of our first attempt to contact them. During that period we will make reasonable follow-up attempts by telephone and/or email using the contact details held on the winner’s account. If no response is received within 7 days, the winner will forfeit all entitlement to the prize and Essential Comps may redraw the prize. The 7 days start from our team’s first contact attempt, not from the automatic winner email.
- Winners required to complete identity verification must provide satisfactory verification within 14 days of our request. Failure to do so may result in the winner forfeiting all entitlement to the prize.
- Identity verification is required before any cash or physical prize is released. This will normally require a valid passport or driving licence, sent as we ask when we contact you. Where these are unavailable, Essential Comps may, at its discretion, accept alternative forms of identification or request additional documents, including proof of address where necessary. How we handle identity documents is explained in our Privacy Policy.
- Where a prize is forfeited and redrawn, the redraw is a new draw with its own new commitment and future public randomness, from the competition’s eligible entries, excluding the forfeited ticket and any entry already ruled ineligible.
- Where a cash alternative is offered, it is shown on the competition page and the winner will be given the choice between the advertised prize and the advertised cash alternative. Once confirmed by the winner, this selection cannot normally be changed unless agreed otherwise by Essential Comps. Cash prizes and Essential Points prizes have no cash alternative.
- Cash prizes and cash alternatives are paid by UK bank transfer only and may only be paid into a UK bank account held in the name of the verified winner. Essential Points prizes are added to the winner’s account.
- Physical prizes will normally be dispatched directly from one of our approved UK suppliers where possible, although some prizes may be supplied directly by Essential Comps. Estimated delivery times will normally reflect the supplier’s standard delivery times, and we will keep winners informed where possible.
- Some prizes may require a delivery signature, one-time collection code or additional verification before they can be released by the courier. Winners are responsible for providing any information reasonably required to complete delivery and for making suitable arrangements to receive their prize. Essential Comps cannot be held responsible for delays or failed deliveries where a winner fails to provide the required information, is unavailable to receive the delivery or does not comply with the courier’s delivery requirements.
- If a physical prize becomes unavailable or cannot reasonably be sourced after the winner has been confirmed, Essential Comps will normally attempt to source the advertised prize for up to 5 business days. If this is unsuccessful, we may, at our discretion, offer the advertised cash alternative (where available), the full retail value in cash, or a replacement prize of an equivalent or greater value.
- If a prize is lost, damaged or delayed whilst in transit, Essential Comps will work with the relevant courier or supplier to resolve the issue and determine the most appropriate outcome. Where appropriate, we may, at our discretion, offer a replacement, cash alternative or another suitable resolution.
- By entering our competitions, you agree that, if you win, Essential Comps may publish your first name, surname (or surname initial), town or city, the prize and your winning ticket number on our website (including Draw Results and our Winners page), during our live draw broadcasts and on our social media channels. We may also invite winners to provide a review, photograph or video; this is entirely voluntary, is only published with your agreement, and is not a condition of receiving a prize.
Essential Points, Referrals & Promotions
Essential Points are our customer rewards programme and may be earned, redeemed and used in accordance with these Terms & Conditions and any additional rules published with the relevant promotion.
- Customers currently earn 1 Essential Point for every £1 paid in cash on qualifying purchases made through the Essential Comps website. Points are only awarded on the amount actually paid, never on any value paid using Essential Points or covered by a discount.
- 1 Essential Point has a redemption value of 1p when used towards qualifying purchases on the Essential Comps website. Essential Points may be used to pay for competition entries in full or in part; any remaining balance must be paid by an accepted payment method.
- Essential Points cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred between accounts or sold. Essential Points have no cash value.
- All Essential Points, however they are earned or awarded, expire at 11:59pm on the last day of the month, one year after they were awarded. Expired points cannot be reinstated.
- If an order is refunded, the Essential Points it earned are taken back in proportion, and any promotional reward linked to it is taken back in proportion. Your balance will not go below zero.
- Refer a Friend: you can share your personal referral link from your account. You receive the referral reward shown in your account when the person you referred makes their first paid order with at least the minimum amount paid in cash shown there, after a short pending period. If their first paid order is below the minimum, or is refunded below it during the pending period, no reward is given. A reward is reversed if the qualifying order is later refunded. You cannot refer yourself, and a person can only be referred once. The current reward, minimum and pending period may change for future referrals.
- Referral abuse, including creating multiple accounts, referring yourself or attempting to manipulate the referral programme, is strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to remove referral rewards, cancel affected entries, suspend or close accounts and refuse refunds where abuse is identified.
- Birthday reward: if you have confirmed your date of birth in your account and are 18 or over, we add a birthday reward to your account once each calendar year on your birthday (UK date; 29 February birthdays are rewarded on 28 February in other years).
- Essential Comps may operate additional promotions, including bonus or multiplied Points, Points back, bonus entries, free entries, discount codes and ticket bundles. The specific rules for each promotion are published with that promotion and form part of these Terms & Conditions. Unless the promotion states otherwise:
- only one discount applies to an order: the most valuable valid one, which may apply automatically without a code;
- bundle-priced tickets are not discounted further; if another discount would save more, it is used instead of the bundle, never both on the same tickets;
- spend thresholds and minimum spends count only the amount paid in cash, never Essential Points or discounts, and only the highest threshold reached applies;
- a Points back amount or a multiplier is a total that includes your normal Points; bonus Points and threshold Points are in addition to normal Points;
- promotional entries are all or nothing: if the whole award would exceed the tickets left or your maximum entries per person, none are given, and paid entries are never refunded to make room;
- promotional entries count towards the competition’s maximum entries per person;
- limited places (for example “first 100 customers”) are allocated in order and are not reopened if an order is later refunded;
- each promotion states whether orders paid partly or wholly with Essential Points qualify;
- a promotion’s rules do not change once it is live; a changed offer is a new promotion.
- Discount codes and promotional offers must be applied before an order is placed and cannot be added, amended or applied retrospectively once an order has been completed.
- No new rewards of any kind (including promotional, referral and birthday rewards) are given while an account is paused, suspended, restricted or closed.
- Essential Comps reserves the right to introduce, amend, suspend or withdraw any loyalty programme, promotion, reward, bonus or campaign at any time. Any changes will not affect rewards or promotions that have already been validly awarded unless the promotion rules state otherwise.
Welcome Reward
- New customers who create an Essential Comps account receive 20% off their first qualifying order, applied automatically at checkout — no code is needed.
- The order must include at least £5.00 of competition entries before the reward and before any Essential Points are applied. The reward is 20% of those entries, rounded to the nearest penny, up to a maximum of £10.00.
- It is available for 30 days from the date the account is created and can be used on one successful order only. If a payment is not completed, is declined or is cancelled, the reward stays available for a later order within the 30 days.
- Essential Points can be used on the same order for the amount left to pay; Essential Points are earned only on the amount actually paid.
- It cannot be combined with another discount, discount code or ticket bundle on the same order — the most valuable valid discount applies. It does not apply to free postal entries.
- It is for genuinely new customers only: it is not available to existing customers (including accounts carried over from our previous website) or to an account that re-opens a previously closed account, and only one per person.
- The reward reduces the price paid only; it never changes ticket numbers, entries, odds or how any competition is drawn.
Responsible Play
Essential Comps is committed to responsible play. Our Responsible Play page explains the tools available and where to find support, and forms part of these Terms & Conditions.
- Competition entries should always be purchased for entertainment purposes only and never as a way of making money or solving financial difficulties.
- By creating an Essential Comps account, you acknowledge that you are responsible for managing your own spending and participation.
- You can set a monthly spending limit at any time in the Responsible Play section of your account, and you must set one after your first purchase, before you can buy entries again. Your limit applies to each calendar month and can be changed at any time, up to the maximum we allow. Reductions take effect immediately; increases take effect after 24 hours. Orders that are still being paid for count towards your limit.
- You can take a break from entering competitions for 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month or 3 months, or suspend your account for 6 or 12 months. While a break or suspension is in place you cannot enter competitions and we will not send you marketing. A suspension runs for its full length and cannot be ended early.
- You can request permanent closure of your account in the Responsible Play section of your account. New entries and marketing stop as soon as you submit the request, and we complete the closure within 3 Working Days. Entries you already hold stay valid (see Accounts). Your order, win and Responsible Play history is kept.
- We reserve the right to refuse transactions, restrict accounts, reduce spending limits, pause accounts or permanently close accounts where we reasonably believe this is necessary to promote responsible play, protect customers or safeguard the integrity of our competitions.
- If you feel that your participation is becoming difficult to control, we encourage you to stop entering competitions immediately and seek support. Independent support organisations are listed on our Responsible Play page.
- We may review and update our responsible play measures from time to time to reflect changes in legislation, guidance or best practice.
Communications & Privacy
- Essential Comps collects and processes personal information in order to operate competitions, administer customer accounts, verify winners, process payments, deliver prizes and comply with legal and regulatory obligations. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
- Service messages — about your orders, payments, entries, wins and prizes, your account and its security, and Responsible Play — are part of our service and are sent whatever your marketing choices.
- Marketing — such as new competition announcements, offers and promotions, and news about Essential Comps — is only sent on the channels you have agreed to (email, SMS or WhatsApp). You can change your choices at any time in Marketing Preferences in your account, or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We do not send marketing during a break, suspension or closure.
- Winner publication is described in Winners, Prizes & Verification above.
- Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including optional analytics and advertising cookies that are only used with your permission. Further information is available in our Cookie Policy.
Refunds
- Our Refund Policy explains when refunds may be given and how they work.
- An order containing a ticket that has won a Main Draw prize cannot be refunded. Refunds of tickets that have won an Instant Win follow the Instant Wins section above.
- Where a refund is given, it returns what the refunded entries actually cost after any discount, bundle price or promotion, in the form it was paid (cash and/or Essential Points). Refunded entries are cancelled and cannot win any draw made after the refund; reversing a refund does not restore them. Any Instant Win on a refunded ticket is void, as described in Instant Wins above, unless we refunded through no fault of yours.
- A chargeback or payment dispute is treated as a refund of the whole order: its entries are cancelled and any Instant Win on them is void.
General Terms
The following general terms apply to all competitions, promotions and services operated by Essential Comps unless specifically stated otherwise.
- Essential Comps reserves the right to correct any genuine error, omission or technical mistake relating to a competition, prize, ticket allocation, pricing, website content or promotional material. Where a significant error has materially affected customers or the fairness of a competition, we may, at our discretion, amend the competition, cancel affected purchases or issue refunds where appropriate.
- If circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent a competition or draw from being completed as planned, including technical failures, supplier issues, payment provider failures, internet outages, cyber incidents, industrial action, severe weather or other unforeseen events, Essential Comps reserves the right to postpone the draw until it can be completed fairly. Every competition remains guaranteed to be drawn unless cancellation is absolutely necessary.
- Essential Comps does not extend a competition’s closing date, or delay a draw, in order to sell more tickets, increase ticket sales or sell out a competition. Competitions close and are drawn in line with the closing and draw arrangements advertised on the competition page; a draw will only be postponed for the reasons described above.
- If Essential Comps is required to cancel a competition before a winner has been selected, all valid paid entries will normally be refunded to the original payment method. Where entries were purchased using Essential Points, those points will normally be returned to the customer’s account.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently close accounts, cancel entries, withhold or recover prizes where legally permitted, remove Essential Points, referral rewards and promotional rewards, refuse refunds and take reasonable steps to recover any losses incurred where permitted by law.
- Submitting a fraudulent or unjustified chargeback, payment dispute or payment reversal is considered abuse of our services. Changes to these Terms
- Essential Comps may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our competitions, services, website features, legal obligations or business operations.
